On Saturday, Barnsley make their third trip to the University of Bolton Stadium this season this time for the first leg of the Sky Bet League One play off semi final. In the previous two visits, the reds drew 0-0 in the league game and won 2-1 in the 1st round of the FA Cup. This time there is a lot more at stake for both sides.
The Reds finished one place and five points ahead of Bolton in the final league standings winning three games more than the Trotters and having a better goal difference of 7.
Back in January, Bolton won at Oakwell 0-3 with Mads Andersen being sent off in the 12th minute after bringing down Dion Charles in the penalty area. Charles then converted the penalty to set Bolton on their way to three points.
Since losing 2-0 at home to Ipswich on 11th March, Bolton have won 5 league games, drawn 3 and lost just once.
We asked Bolton fan, Blair Patterson to give his thoughts on who the danger men are for the Wanderers and who the reds need to look out for.
Conor Bradley
"On loan from Liverpool and has impressed from the moment he came in. He has a tremendous engine on him to get up and down the flank as right wing back and scored some important goals. Would say he prefers to come inside rather than beat a man on the outside and whip in a cross. Hardly missed a game and unlikely to be with us next season unless we get promotion."
Dion Charles
"Top scorer and first Bolton player to hit 20 goals in a season since the days of Michael Ricketts. Leads the press and doesn’t give the defenders a minutes peace as he demonstrated at Oakwell earlier on in the season. Can sometimes be wasteful in front of goal but probably why he is at this level at the moment and not higher. Scored in Papa John’s Final."
Ricardo Santos
"Captain and man mountain. Came through a sticky spell early on in the season but is the main man at the back. Comfortable in possession and invites pressure to try and play through the press. Loves a physical battle too. Give his size and presence could probably improve on his contribution in the opposition box from set pieces."
