Some Barnsley fans in uproar at new signing

Barnsley football club made their first signing of the January transfer window acquiring forward Max Watters on loan from Cardiff City. However, Watters hasn’t played for two months due to a hamstring injury and illness prompting fury from some Barnsley supporters.

These were just a few of the replies on Twitter that were printable.

Some would argue the comments are no more than 'keyboard warriors' and way over the top in the tone but it does beg the question, why did the club “bang down the door” for a player who isn’t fit to play for several weeks?

Surely the Reds need players who can hit the ground running now and not take up more space on the injury list which is ever growing at Oakwell? Recent loan signing Slobodan Tedic has also spent more time injured at Oakwell than on the pitch which has not helped the Red's cause.

Given Barnsley have only scored 5 goals in 5 games, the club need to secure some talented forwards in January, preferably ones who are fit to play.
