Samuel Barrott to referee Port Vale v Barnsley

Samuel Barrott will referee the Sky Bet League One fixture on Valentines Day between Port Vale and Barnsley at Vale Park. Barrott has refereed a total of 129 times brandishing the yellow card 395 times and a straight red card 5 times. Barrott officiated the Tykes 1-0 victory at Fleetwood back in early October 2022.

The Tykes go into the game after an impressive victory over Cambridge United playing most of the game with 10 men. Barnsley are currently 6th in the table on 50 points. Port Vale are 15th on 37 points after losing 3-2 away at Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Barnsley and Port Vale have a tight record over the years, with Vale winning 47 times, Barnsley 46 with 20 draws between the two sides.

The Tykes have a poor record at Vale Park winning on just three occasions since 1991. However, Barnsley have recently won at Oxford and drawn at Portsmouth, two grounds they do not have great records at.
