Ross Joyce to referee Barnsley v Cambridge United

Ross Joyce will referee the Sky Bet League One encounter at Oakwell on Saturday between Barnsley and Cambridge United. The Cleveland born ref has officiated in 377 games. In that time he has issued 1356 yellow cards and 39 straight red cards.

Joyce is no stranger to Barnsley Football Club or Oakwell Stadium. He officiated the 2-0 home win over Coventry City in March 2016 and the 4-0 home win over Oxford United which was Daniel Stendel`s first game in charge of the Tykes. More recently, Joyce took charge of the FA Cup tie against Barrow which ended 5-4 to the Tykes.


The Tykes go into this weekends game in 6th place on 47 points whilst Cambridge sit in 23rd position on 26 points. However, Cambridge played out a hard fought 1-1 home draw with Ipswich at the weekend.


In the corresponding fixture, Barnsley ran out 3-0 winners despite losing goalkeeper Brad Collins to injury and Liam Kitching to a red card.
