Preview Barnsley V Wycombe

Barnsley head into this weekend's home game with Wycombe Wanderers in buoyant mood after dispensing of Bristol Rovers 3-0 in emphatic style on Tuesday night.

Oakwell under the lights in the pouring rain made for an uncomfortable evening for Joey Barton`s side as Michael Duff`s reds set about the Gas from the first minute to the last. With Josh Benson scoring his third goal in three games in a great week for the midfielder and Devante Cole scoring his first goal in almost a year, the reds will be relishing another game in front of the Oakwell faithful on Saturday.

The visitors come into the game on the back of three straight league defeats losing 8-2 over those games. A 0-3 away defeat at Bolton Wanderers was then followed by a 1-2 home defeat to Shrewsbury and a 1-3 loss in Devon at Exeter City leaves the Chairboys in 20th position in League One after four league games.

The reds will welcome two of their old boys back in Alfie Mawson and Josh Scowen who now ply their trade in Buckinghamshire.

The reds have only played the Chairboys on eight previous occasions with the reds coming out on top on four occasions, drawing on three and losing just once in a 0-1 loss at Adams Park in 2018.

Michael Duff reassured supporters that Nicky Cadden will hopefully return to the first team on Saturday after missing the last couple of games through injury.

According to Yorkshire Post Duff said:

"He (Cadden) was close last week, so hopefully he will be in contention. He's the only one, really. "We want everyone available and want to pick a fresh squad. We have only got a couple (out), with Herbie added into that as well. "But Herbie is on the grass now and he's getting closer and hopefully he will be available in the next couple of weeks as well.”

Duff explained that defender Michal Helik suffered a reaction in training which has setback his recovery with no timetable set on the Polish defender returning to first team action.

Saturdays officials are:

Referee: Ollie Yates

Assistants: Daniel Woodward and Richard Woodward

Fourth Official : Declan Bourne

This will be the first time Yates has officiated the reds. In his career so far he has officiated 76 games issuing 263 yellow cards with an average of 3.46 per game and 13 red cards.
