Lincoln City (A) - Match Blog #51

Tuesday night and it's back-to-back away-days for the Reds as we travel down to Lincolnshire to take on the Imps, a tough team with a great home record!

Our mission was simple.....keep in touch with the three teams above us and hope they slip up.

It didn't go as planned, and it ended 0-0. The Reds had picked up a decent point away from home, which earlier in the season wouldn't have been a bad result. Unfortunately those around us (Wendies, Ipswich, and Plymouth) picked up all three points, which took the shine off a well deserved point on the road, and compounded our disappointment.

In summary we weren't clinical enough in the final third. We've scored goals for fun this season but it just didn't click for us tonight. I rarely question Duff's tactics, but bringing on three subs in one go feels like a desperate attempt to make something happen when he's run out of ideas. So much change disrupted the flow of a game which in my opinion just needed tweaking.

Onto Plan B. It looks unlikely that we'll hit that top-two following this result, and considering the other results that went against us. So what next? Avoid any significant injuries, rest a few, and hope to take some consistency into the playoffs? Or roll the dice and see what happens? Don't give up the dream just yet, there's bound to be a few more twists and turns before the end of the season.
