Andy Woolmer set to referee Portsmouth v Barnsley

Andy Woolmer will referee the Sky Bet League One fixture between Portsmouth and Barnsley at Fratton Park this Saturday.

Barnsley head to Portsmouth after back to back victories beating Accrington Stanley 3-1 at Oakwell and Wednesday night`s 2-1 win away at Oxford United. Last time out, Pompey lost 2-1 away at Peterborough.


The reds sit 6th in League One on 46 points with games in hand on sides above them whilst Portsmouth currently sit 11th on 36 points.


Woolmer is an experienced referee with over 300 EFL games under his belt. He was appointed to the EFL referees list in 2004 and joined the Select Group 2 list in 2016.

Woolmer officiated the EFL trophy final in 2016 between Barnsley and Oxford which the reds won.


He has refereed 21 matches this season, 11 in the Championship, 6 in League One, 3 in League Two and 1 EFL cup game.


Woolmer last officiated a Barnsley game was back in April 2022 in our 1-1 away draw at Swansea in which Claudio Gomes scored for the reds.
